I know they (UFO & Van Halen) played a gig at the Golden West Ballroom in '76. Not sure if they gigged togather in '77.

I bought 2 brand new dimarzio HS-3 pickups and one squealed really bad, totally unusable...it sounded just fine thoughJimiJames wrote: Did you once mention that you had a new SD and it squealed ? 'Cause that's wierd.
Did this one ?
I'm not clear on if the new ones use an enamel coated wire to suppress squeal.
DiMarzio now uses custom-coated wire & a secret formula to dip the pups in for that.
So when DiMarzio states that the ONLY difference in the old DSD's and the new ones, is consistancy, w e l l..........

Re: My 1975 Ibanez Destroyer VH tribute guitar
Just to update this thread...
I now have a new Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge and I couldn't be happier. I've started using Ed's 'EVH' branded Fender strings with the .042 low E string. I like the gauges...seems like the guitar is just perfect now.
I re-installed my Adobe Audition software yesterday, so I should be able to make a clip. I still don't have an SM-57 and I'll be using my Sennheiser MD-420 which doesn't work so well for recording loud electric guitar, but at least I can make a clip that will give you a flavor of where the guitar is at now tone-wise.
