Yea it can be handy when you need a custom piece for a car or boat ,,,, this is the first time I used it to make a guitar part lol… hey that’s what work is for government jobs lol

How does that thing work? Do you need a PU ring that it copies or you just mark things out and move the piece underneath? If I only had one of those things........ :scratch:

It has a table that move under a stationary spinning end-mill (bit) … the table can move in three planes X,Y and Z…
To do the pickup rings I measured them with a set of calipers in thousands of an inch then, then I milled them to size W x H x L. after that I used an edge finder to pick up the exact edges of the part and then used the moved the table to the desired dimensions and drilled all the holes. After that I plunge cut out the center before going back and …. Crap this is going to get long winded let me see if I can find a you-tube vid or something.

this will kind of give you the idea of how it works,,, You basically move the work to the exact measurements in thousandths of an inch. You move the table in all directions by hand cranks and you watch a digital readout to see a real time measurement. The cutter does the wok.... Think of it as a very precise router table lol
