Snowboarders or Skiers in here?

I don't know if any of you are into winter sports, but-----
This is the best winter we've had for YEARS!!!!! Over 300 inches have fallen this year. It's been going off.

If any of you are considering a ski or riding trip, you should seriously consider Steamboat.

Yeah, this is ridiculous. If I don't have to wear longjohns in January in the middle of a Michigan winter, something is terribly wrong. "Winter Wonderland" my ass.

Hey Shane, I figured it out. The trashburner must be working triple overtime to burn all the crap that was cleaned off the streets downtown. God forbid any of those folks here for the Superbowl travel any farther than a mile away from the stadium area.

What's next? A Superbowl in Flint?

Same in NYC...it was 50-something degrees yesterday...still though, if you're a snowboarder and heading upstate, I'd rather it be blue sky and less cold than friggin gray with a -15 windchill.

I can't imagine the words Flint and super even being in the same sentence!

This town is just plain fucked. A few years ago the feds had to come in take over the economy because the city was so far in debt.
The we managed to "elect" our ex-con mayor. Who is so crooked it isn't even funny. This guy makes polititions look good.

It's bad, and getting worse.

I think Marion Berry, Kwame Kilpatrick and Flint's mayor all went to the same high school, er, reform school.

Time magazine voted Kilpatrick as one of the worst city mayors in the country - and yet he gets reelected. I'm not just speaking from a sububanites point of view. I lived in Detroit for over 20 years and even voted for him in the first election. Turns out that he's just as bad as Coleman Young. See ya Detroit, hello Livonia.

I find it amusing that the local media hypes the Super Bowl as being a major opportunity for turning around the city. We'll see what happens when the dust settles after this weekend.

Do the citizens of Detroit really think that investors will want to do business with someone who's dubbed the "Hip Hop Mayor"? With a badly checkered past rife with corruption, embezzlement, partying and a dead stripper?

It's snowing as we speak. Supposed to snow till Sunday. I've got to shovel my roof this weekend. JOY

Hey George, then by all means please move shop to Detroit! I'll bet walk-in business would double! There are plenty of abandoned store fronts to choose from. Not all the neighborhoods are bad. Hamtramck would be interesting. A weird little city with its own police and fire right in the middle of Detroit. Funky eclectic neighborhood and bars with bands on every corner. Located right off I-75, close to the burbs, close to downtown, waddya think? Come to think of it, my dad is buddies with a an old dude who owns a two story music store right on Caniff Street. We've installed some wheelchair lifts for him at his house and store recently. His health is failing and he needs to get out of the biz. Currently, the place is absolutely JAM PACKED with vintage music gear. Floor to ceiling. Both floors.

Don't fear the "D".

Jeff, I did go snowboarding in Colorado. Keystone. I loved the free public transportation that carried us to a bunch of different towns - Breckenridge, Keysone, etc. We went late in the season when the snow would melt and then freeze over. Way too fast for us Michiganders. Over here, we just cover our garbage mountains with snow and call that a skiing facility. Everyone has to ski Mt. Trashmoore at least once. In Colorado, one buddy was put on a stretcher after one pass and the rest of us, after snowboarding for four hours, were too sore to do anything for the next two days.

I'm going to Keystone and Breck on March 5. Will snowboard for 4 days and ski for 3. I can't decide which I like better.

The snow should be awesome if it keeps snowing the way it is. I ride and ski as well. I'm trying to learn to Telemark ski this season. It's hard to pass up riding when there is knee deep powder, but to learn something new you have to commit.
