How do you read an OT schematic?

I've attatchd the schematic for my OT

Where it says Black/Start does that mean you start from the lowest numbered tube socket (V4)?

The only thing I'm sure of is that brown is the centre tap

Sorry if this is tube amp 101 that I just failed

Black goes to V4 and red goes to V5. Don't feel bad - I had to email Marstran with the same question. We're both failures.
