Telefunken Tubes

Post by Guitar Adjuster » Mon Feb 13, 2006 6:05 pm

I managed to swipe a Telefunken ECC83 pre amp tube from my fathers old Telefunken tube stereo. It has a diamond on the bottom with the letters "18" inside the diamond and on the side of the tube are the #'s "81019001" I also managed to take an ECC85 and EL84 from the same stereo. The last time this tube was actually turned on was back in 1983 when this stereo was in our game room back home. The stereo was brought back from Germany by my father in the 50's when he was in the Army. There were also some other funky tubes inside -- and EF 89, EABC80,and an ECL82. Anyone know what these are worth? Anyone have a good tube tester? Forgot to mention the EL84 is a Mullard

Thanks,

Allen

What brand is the receiver, Nordmende, Telefunken, Graetz, Saba??? Usually there'd be two 6BQ5s (EL84) in a stereo receiver. These things sound great you know, why not try fixing the fucker??? I have a Nordmende tabletop console receiver from '62 that I use regularily when I listen to FM radio. Those other tubes you mentioned are all RF (radio frequency) tuner tubes and are dime-a-dozen on Ebay. That ECC85 (6AQ8) is sometimes in demand but you can find 'em easily also.

That was me. Thought you said it was just a Tele tube, not whole receiver.

The stereo is an old Telefunken Console with an am/fm radio and turntable inside. Its about 4 feet tall, and 4 feet wide. Its in decent shape and my parents have no use for it. Its just sitting in the garage. I just have not place for it at my house and they live 400 miles away. The last time I turned it on it did work fine....20 some years ago!
