What pickup do you have in there? How does it sound?

I've got a Smits Super 7T in there now. I like it alot.

Very cool. What was the turnaround time? Been thinking about ordering a neck from Musikraft a while now.
It took me about a month to 2 months to get my body and neck. All I can say is that those guys are real professionals. Not one single complaint about my transaction. They are indeed the bomb :champ:

Thanks. I need to just order the damn thing already lol

I can't remember exactly, but I went all in. Musikraft Franky body and non Franky Musikraft strat neck, made in Germany Schallers, all Callaham parts, etc. I think the Musikraft body alone weighed about five pounds. Then you have to dial in the right pickup. I had a pro put the guitar together for me and then messed with different pickups.

Sorry to hijack, but I need some help if possible and this seemed like a good thread to ask.

I've got a Locke Franky body and Musikraft Franky neck that were a tight fit for one another before painting. I sent the body to MJT and it came back with so much overspray in the pocket that the neck won't fit anymore. Is there a best technique to remove the excess filler/finish without removing any wood?
Is it filler and paint in the pocket? I would either use sand paper or a razor blade to scrape off the filler and paint down to wood.

Or it may be a complete loss and send the whole thing to me for fire wood.  :)

Thanks. :) Figured it out.

Still have some more work to do to get this up-and-running.

I have a bunch of partscasters laying around and I must've misremembered about the neck/body fit because after I scraped finish off the cavity, the neck still didn't fit. I used a file and a sandpaper/block to just slightly increase the width of the pocket, but then I had a problem with the corner cut of the high-e side of the neck pocket being slightly assymetrical with the low-e corner. Wrapped a circular diameter pencil with some sandpaper, sanded and checked the fit in small increments, and the neck/body connection is super tight now.

I know other folks have had great results mixing different Franky necks and bodies (Musikraft, KNE, Divebomb, Locke, etc.), but on my next Franky-inspired build I'm going with neck and body from the same manufacturer. This wasn't a nightmare to get right, but I was hoping for a better fit with less work.

One of the problems I've encountered is that on vintage style 6 screw 'Vibrato' units (love how Ed calls them that), you have to be careful about the size of fret used on the neck, regardless of whether the body & neck is from the same manufacturer or not. I dont like pocket shims and taking out wood in the pocket or neck butt is a difficult endeavor. The saddle screws on these vintage style tremolo's are radiused for vintage necks with the low and high E adjustment screws being shorter, A & B a tad longer and G & D being the longest(tallest saddle height capability). The Gotoh unit has the longest adjustment screws , I rob those for my other trems. All the cnc machines are set for vintage Fender spec so you have to be carefull. VERY VERY few people are building strats like we are. Most are using a two pivot point style.

I have both bodies, but the Kne body is a little closer to the Franky, though thats not saying much. Ideally, someone should convince the owner of the Azusa #0022 strat, to loan it to Musikraft or Kne for a truly authentic looking Franky body clone.

Do we have any idea who has #0022?

Callaham has different length adjustment screws.

#0022 was in possession of James Duffy and what he based his bodies on, right? Is he still the owner?

All of the vintage style saddle screws are the same in regards to the two E saddles being shortest, A and B a tad longer and the D and G saddle screws being longest. The problem is when the D and G saddles cant adjust the saddles high enough (they are the longest.

Here's mine. Musikraft body, but I took the maple neck off to try this one. It's Indian rosewood with an ebony board. To be perfectly honest, I'm not super happy with it. The body has really nice grain, but I was going to stain it red. Home Depot didn't have a red even close to what I wanted, so I just grabbed the blue because I was impatient. I have a High Order Alnico 5 in there, but I think I prefer A2 for EVH. I do like the neck, although I need to tweak the nut a bit. The Callaham trem rocks. I'm considering ordering a roasted ash body from Musikraft and staining it red, like I originally wanted, and popping the maple neck on that. The rosewood neck feels amazing, although the tone is a little warmer than the maple one, even with the ebony board. Still, the guitar sounds pretty darned good as is.

I think it looks great! I showed my twelve year old your guitar and he liked you yours better than mine lol! He likes blue guitars. I really like that neck you have on there. I bet it sounds great!
