Hello,

I am getting a variac for tech purposes and I am not sure about brands. Can any of you recommend a nice (quality).

That looks like a very nice unit but may be overkill if you just need one to use for tube amps. Check in the classified section here as there is a very nice 10 amp Staco model that would serve your needs just fine. Quite a bit cheaper also!
