Are you serious S78 or is this sarcasm? Sorry can't tell.... Asking because I've thought for years that I hear different amps on Diver Down -- will give 84 a listen again.Strat78 wrote:Hot For Teacher does not sound like Ed's 12301. Kind of sounds like 10" speakers too.

Re: CORRECT REFERANCE FOR BROWN SOUND
Gentlemen! Gentlemen!
Just a tip, for those who do not know.
Get the friggin VH cd. Put it through proper studio monitors. Record your mod5's or variaced dimed plexis or one wire modded amps or ralle spec amp..........AND if your recording sounds through the same studio monitors like the album through the same studio monitors, then ill bet my bottom dollar your amp sounds like Eds.
BTW the producers and Ed alter the sound from song to song, surely everyone here knows that.
And that guy who posted with one word (Leontis or whatever he calls himself) and said.........No. What i liked about your post was its conciseness and full mastery of the queens English vocabulary. But do not worry, just joking around, i still like you.

Re: CORRECT REFERANCE FOR BROWN SOUND
In regards to the OP.
1) Yes.. Different people uploading different quality versions of the same things to youtube will sound different. This is pretty obvious.
2) Yes... The ISO tracks are a great eye opener. If you use the search function, they have been here since they came out.
3) Yes... Monitor speakers are great. Spectrum analyzers are too. Many of us have both and there are some breadown threads on the forum.
My thoughts:
It's great to have all the effects and post production tools. There's a professionally made clip of a BE100 that is so close that for a second I wondered if it was the original recording. His core tone was right. I know this first hand. It's no gimmick.
For the rest of us Strat78's clips are right up there without all the production because of the core tone. Again core tone being key.
Personally I prefer more raw clips because of videos like this. Wait for it at the end. At 7:27

Strat78 clips are badass. Where can I hear Santino's clips?

Re: CORRECT REFERANCE FOR BROWN SOUND
Here is a YouTube video that highlights the vocals and Ed's guitar fills and solo, I had not heard this before. I want to get some more opinions on this because it sounds like the tracks were taken from the masters and are untreated. Unlike the guitar hero iso tracks, listen how in your face Ed's guitar is, without the heavy reverb:

Re: CORRECT REFERANCE FOR BROWN SOUND
Great find. Very raw and true representation right there.

Re: CORRECT REFERANCE FOR BROWN SOUND
Wow...I've never heard that either. That is it right there. I only wish the complete guitar track was represented, but hey, this is unbelievably cool to get the meat of the tone without the reverb. Wow

Wow you can really hear the 6 band pushing the amp. No doubt about that now!

Re: CORRECT REFERANCE FOR BROWN SOUND
This is what his amp probably sounds like without the 6 band:
https://youtu.be/QnRt_cWdV8c?t=139
Thinner sounding with less gain and push.

Re: CORRECT REFERANCE FOR BROWN SOUND
I'm going to disagree that this is in any way, confirmation that the 6 band is pushing the amp for this song. It just doesn't sound that pushed and distorted in front. It's raspy, as a variac'd plexi behaves, but not really over the top like I'm the One, RWTD, etc. Just my experience and ears talking, as there really is no way to know for certain. He could have used it to shape some tone and not push the amp any more than the PU would. Just no way to know. Really have to listen and try EVERYTHING.
