My first amp was a Marshall super bass I was given that at the age of 9 but didn't use it until recently, battery powered fender twin, then a demon pro amp with a 10" celestion, 1 H/H transistor head with a fantastic spring reverb blown power amp so i use it as a pre amp it was the best sounding guitar amp apart from the marshall through my quad of 50Hz speakers finally i bought a carlsbro CS60 pa head with spring reverb which i am going to convert to an amp similar to a 1987 marshall and i am going to have my diy 4x12 for it.

First Amp

Some little Marshall solid state noise box with a broken knob. I don't even know what I ever did with that. Next was an early 70's Deluxe Reverb. The Marshall had to go after that. Used that for years (and, of course, still have it) and now have the X-100B with a Marshall 4 X 12! Oh, and the first guitar to play thru that AWSOME little Marshall was a Kay with a microphonic pickup that I paid $60.00 for.

TSL 122 2X12 combo, Worked great for 6 years, blew up went to the amp tech, didnt quite sound the same after that.Traded up for my Stiletto Trident head & 2 X12 cabinet. One thig about the TSL, inside it looked more like a Stereo then a Guitar Amp, wires every where, really cheap components. the Solder joints broke off the PCB for the Din plug for the footswitch Cheap ass construction. When I cranked the amp the circuit boards rattled...... I dont miss that amp at all.

A 12watt Park combo with a 8" speaker! Then it was a Fender Princeton Chorus, then the Marshall plexi was my first tube whore.

Fender Quad Reverb. Kinda like the Super Reverb's big brother. They were a twin chassis in a 4x12 open back combo. My friend, who started my first band together with me had the Super Six Reverb (twin in a 6x10 combo). We were the wall of Fender. If only our bass player had two Showmans with the 15 cabs then the picture would have been complete. I should've never let the amp go - when it died I didn't want to pay what it cost to get it fixed so I took a very bad trade on it instead. Oh well, you live and learn.

A "Heath" kit amp. Be surprised if anyone reading this has ever heard of them. Bought it used when I started playing in 77'.....didn't sound all that hot, wish I still had it, though.

100 watt Plexi. Bought it for 200 bucks with 2 ampeg 4 x 12's in 1975! Traded it straight up for a peavy 30 watt 2 x 12 combo when I went to college. Pretty stupid eh?

Absolutely!! My dad built lots of Heathkit stuff. I'm the way I am today from all the time I spent watching over his shoulder sucking solder fumes! It was the it was back then. everybody was building something. It was a leftover way off life from the crystal radio days.

I have like 4 Heathkit radios on layaway at two different pawn shops here in town. One is a small AM/FM, one a AM/FM/SW/ World band thing. And the other two are home stereo units, one a twenty watt stereo, the other a 35 watter. The last three have a few Mullard 12AX7's in them, the small radio not sure. These were pretty neat kits, too bad they are no longer in kit form. They also weren't cheap. I think I'll be spending upwards of $350 for the four. That might not be all that bad but I think it's a lot for 4 ancient radios/stereos.
