Yep, approx 10K in taxes. Seems fair enough. Until you think about it. Let's say you're a married couple who file jointly. Your incomes each just went up by 15k. Putting you in a higher tax bracket, meaning you pay more taxes on the money you worked for all year.
If you're single , your income goes up by 30k.

I think JF's country, Canada takes an interesting approach. And please correct me if I'm wrong. 50% income tax, complete health care.

Well almost!!!!!!

If your total income is greater than $50,000/year you get near the 50% income taxe braket, any income above that it is 50%+ to a maximum of near 55% for the 100 grand or more salaries (OUTCH that hurts...

), any salaries below $50,000 it is at the pro rata of the income, the less you do the less you pay.....healt care well yes it is free.... but you have to wait 6 months sometimes to get treament (not very good if you get cancer

), public healt services sucks but it is free!!!!! You decide what is better for you, you want to increase you chances of dying or get cured, pay or don't pay!!!???

In quebec on top of income taxes you have to pay 14.5% for goods and services sale taxes(OUTCH again

). Its getting crazy here. And everytime I want to purchase something from you guys in the states have to pay the exchange $1us=$1.27CAD APPROX. (it just got a little better recently...) plus the customs fees (brokage and the GST good and services taxes I just mention....OUTCH again

Thanks for the perspective. It takes away some the "grass is always greener, on the other side" thoughts.

I have to agree on the girls in your country, they have some grippin' booties. And it drives me crazy when they speak French to me.

As for the import taxes and exchange rate, maybe we can designate some of your packages as gifts to help with the costs.

They also have smart drug laws regarding weed. Only in America are more people arrested for pot possession than all robbery, murder, rape combined. Talk about costing a ton of cash wasted on that.
I work in healthcare, although it's expensive, you don't have to wait 6 months for tests and surgeries. We take care of a lot of patients who have no insurance. They get taken care of. Whether they pay, that's another question. I'd rather pay and not have to wait. I wonder if some of that money going into Iraq could have helped the health care situation.
I'd rather think about sweet assed shaved Canadian Women!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you 110% "dirtydeeds22". You get caught here with a few grams of pot and they just look at you and say "don't do that ok! and let you go", specialy if its for your own personnal usage. All the therapeutical qualities of "it" is also a reality (for some people its the only thing that will make them painfree in some deseases, etc...).

Has an outsider let me tell ya that here and all over the rest of the planet whiches that the "Cowboy" or if you want the planet's "Sheriff" don't get re-elected, so please make you a favor and do the right thing next week, I promise I will not talk about politics anymore now!!!!!!!!

No problem on the politics, it's nice to hear a real opinion from someone outside the US. One that hasn't been edited and OK'd by the executives at one of the media giants.

BTW possesion laws vary from state to state. In Florida, for example, you can have up to two joints on you and not get into trouble. Michigan on the other hand has a zero tolerance policy. Several states have provisions for medical use of controlled substances, as well.

America's political race and build-up to the election has been a nightmare. You can't go 5 minutes without seeing or hearing some bullshit spewing from these guys.
I'd like to put both Bush and Kerry in a small room with 2 100 watt SLP PLEXI'S cranked while doing constant 2 step bends with the high E string at the 22nd fret. Give them a little tast of their own medicine.
