Leaded Solder

Post by Bainzy » Fri Mar 24, 2006 2:38 pm

Contains 20% lead. What are the safety precautions necessary when using this stuff? What harmful effects can it have?

I've tried soldering with it a few times and tried not breathing in the fumes, but it's no good - they linger in the room. I can't get unleaded solder this thin from my local DIY store, and it doesn't work very well either.

Work in a ventilated area/near a window and open it a crack. Or put a small fan on low nearby to blow the fumes away.

For the little solder points on an amp don't worry too much. Just don't eat any.
