Goodguys Heartland Rod and Custom Nationals......

Post by Flames1950 » Sat Jul 01, 2006 4:24 pm

....GOD I LOVE ACRES OF OLD CARS!!! :D :D :D :D

You can't even possibly see all the shit that rolls in the gates, even if you were there all weekend!!!

Anybody else in Metro-land have a car they took out there? Saw stuff from Missouri, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, the Dakotas, Nebraska.......took my stock-looking '53 Chevrolet pickup down myself (with a beefed up 235 straight six, dual carbs and exhaust) and overheard some nice comments about it. (It cost me enough, it should be nice.... ) And anybody that loves cars and guitars knows that good exhaust tone is as hard to achieve as great guitar tone!

George, I pimped my Metro Amp shirt the whole day for a little exposure. Also saw some old chopper stuff at the swap meet but I'm not in the know enough on them to say what I saw...I like old original Indian stuff if I look at cycles.

8) Nice Flames!
We just got back from a smaller car show 45 min ago. and have another tomorrow. I wish i had a pic handy to post. we did a 65 coronet 500. frame off and stuffed a 426 hemi in it. Just picked up an original crossram intake and carburetion for it. (we as in my dad and I, its his ride).
Where was that show? We have goodguys every year in Topeka, KS
Might try and make it to the next one.

This was in Des Moines Iowa.

If I had more time off from work I'd try and get to the Kansas one once in a while, supposedly that's where my truck came up from. It wasn't quite so pretty when it arrived though:

This shot was taken almost exactly four years ago, fourth of July weekend 2002:

2002 was an ugly year, my dad and I managed to get everything from the cab forward done between July and December. I sweat my nuts off out in the sun stripping that cab.

[quote="johniss0001"] is a hemi an engine.

Yeah, it's one hell of an engine. It's what all the top fuel funny cars and dragsters are based off of. this one is 500 horsepower stock, :D without the tweaks!

Thanks for the compliment flames, those souped up sixs sound killer.
We have a few guys down here that run em out at the strip. busts yer eardrums at the top end! 8)

Andy, ever been to the Pomona Swap Meet?? Same as you describe...you cannot see everything even if you stay the entire weekend.

I've never been in CA when it's going. I think my dad went a couple of years ago when he was visiting my brother (who no longer lives there) and Pops said it was just insane all the stuff sitting around, and how big it was. I don't think he made it through a fourth of what was there in six hours or so.

Is that the same as the Pomona Fair grounds? I miss going to the fairs
(state fair) over there, but it's been at least 14 years since.
