I need some direction on separating the laminations on a Dagnall so I can get down to the Primary winding on the bobin...I have a small short in the tranny's primary and I am NOT going to spend a fortune on a new one.

But you should know, that after you've removed the laminations, you still have to unwind 120 turns of the secondary, before you'll get to the primary.mikeokc wrote:For the learned masses....

The shelloc the surface wont be a problem. Its the stuff between the laminations that you need to worry about... Even that only causes a problem in the first few laminations. From then on its pretty much smooth sailing.mikeokc wrote:think I could sand the shellac off?
