I just caught a show by Randy Hansen in West Seattle. I am not old enough to have seen a true Hendrix show but to hear, and feel, Hendrix music played live like this was friggin' sweet. I can't recommend enough catching a show by this cat...

Singing and looks aside, who's the most accurate Hendrix (guitar playing and tone) impersonator out there today?
This guy's definately up there.

If you like his sound, I can find out exactly what is in his amp. A friend of mine made the amps in his current setup that Randy has had a while. The effects are made by Kevin Randall. The univibe and ff and modded wahs. Kevin modded all of my wahs. When Kevin was designing his Univibe back in late 90s he A/B'd his final prototype against my sweetsound Ultravibe. Kevin had sat down with some serious players and let them A/B his vibe with Fulltone and Mayer and stuff. Everyone agreed that Kevins sounded the best. Until! Yes Kevin had never had a Sweetsound to A/B with so he used mine. Kevin and I both agreed that his and the Sweetsound sounded almost exactly alike except the sweetsound sounded a little more organic and alive rich. Kevins was a little darker. But they both were damn near the same. I would go with Kevins. Cause he is a friend and has an amazing life history. He has a heart of gold and was abused and enslaved by a local guitar retailer for many years.

Yes... I remember him...Never seen him but heard most of his music a long while back. A O.K. with me ! It's all good...
So he's still out there giggin' huh? I'll keep an ear out for him incase he's tourin' the MidWest...

I know it's not exact to the record, but I love this Monte Montgomery takes on Little Wing.
I'm sure he could play it exact, but I love improv stuff too.

Then there's SRV versions of Little Wing and Voodoo Chile that I probably play more than the Original Versions. His tone was incredible.

Shawn Lane did a mean improve version of Watchtower back in the day to. it was shreding but still tastefull.

Hendrix, SRV, VH....It's all good.

How bout this killer version of Who Knows,sounds like Randy is channeling Jimi I swear.
I remember hearing him in the seventies on Long Island,and was impressed by the equipment as much as anything,spot on accurate stacks of Marshall's,and I thought especially on BOG,he was feeling it big time!

If want to know what his late 70s setup was then go buy the new collectors set of Apocalypse Now. Shows which Marshall head, pedals and the echoplex and what strat with Randy of course. Some wicked guitar sounds on that movie. Looked like a brand new Marshall and speaker cabinet. Blackbacks! This was what 78 79? Square red plastic standby and power switch on the head. SS echoplex.
Also some nice comments from the world leaders in synthesizers about Randy and his guitar sound. Sounded to me like an admission that Randy and his guitar setup and sound beat the worlds largest Moog synth and pretty much every synth made at that time.
