Another player that I think kicks ass is Alex Lifeson of Rush. Rush is one of those bands that people either love or hate, but if you listen to any of the albums from the 70's you gotta give his playing and tone props. I saw them live this past summer and the guy just flat out RIPS.

The early Rush days truly rock! Pretty unique spacy tone from this d00d.

My wife was channel surfing ( she's a speed demon with that damn remote) and I saw a glimpes of Buddy Guy go whizzing buy and I said "STOP!!! BACK THAT UP!!!" and she knew it was over then

Overall, it was really good. I think Buddy Guy is a great player yet grossly underated. JMO

I loved seeing the SBBs doing their "thang" I have the soundtrack CD to the movie...Hey, I'm a good ole boy, what can I say? :)

I love to watch Clapton play! He just blows me away every time.
John Mayer surprised me with his playing even though I couldn't understand a dang word he was singing ( but that's his niche and I didn't care)

Vince Gill was smokin and Robert Randolph just left me floored. All I could do was shake my head and mouth the words "kiss my ass" when he played. :)

I don't think I have ever heard anyone play steel like that! Yep, as George said he WILL be around for a long time.

I came in about 1/2 way through the show so I'm sure I missed alot.

I like Joe Walsh but I thought he lacked a certain "something" this time, can't quite put my finger on it.

Of course BB King is BB King. That old boy looks like he's eating good too!

BTW: Ain't nothing wrong with James Taylor in my book :)

You guys have all spoke of some great guitar players..I love Page..Mostly because He is the one that made me pick up the electric guitar as a kid..Also someone mentioned Gibbons,Gilmour. How about Eric Johnson..How can any guitar player not find Cliffs of Dover pretty cool..I think you have to throw VH in there..Even though it seems like everybody is talking about him..But one more guy that I did not see mentioned..How about Vito Bratta..I know he is known as a VH clone..But He pulled off some pretty cool licks..And White Lion's version of Radar Love kicks the shit out of the Golden Earring's version...
Has anybody seen the bridge?

We've forgot about KEEF! The riff master. Everytime I make attempt to do some original stuff it always has a Keef Riffhard sound to it. Anybody else think Eric Sardinas has got the slide down cold?

YES!!!!!

Finally,.....someone (5150loveseddie) said FRANK MARINO!!!!!! If you've ever heard Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush Live.....you'd always remember this guy. From Track 7 on (eh, same as side 2 on the vinyl) he literally just rips your head off!!!!!

All the other players mentioned here are mammoth (one of the special favs here is Alex Lifeson, sealed my fate for buying a H & K head a few years ago).

On the classical side of things don't forget:

David Russell
LA Guitar Quartet
John Williams
Assad Brothers
practically the entire Romero family
Let's get going, 'cause there's too much music, too little time!!!!

And they are all Canadien dudes, actually Frank Marino runs a hot rod garage in the Montreal region, Myles Goodwin (April Wine) is also a Montrealer, Lifeson is in Toronto, Pat Travers is in the west of Canada.

Please don't forget Rik Emmett of Triumph also from here...... 8)

David Gilmore
Jerry Garcia
Bobby Weir
Victor Wooten (bass)
Steve Howe
Jimmy Page
Danny Melendrez

How about Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson? Those two were were friggin' great together.

And, let me have it if you want to, but Peter Frampton was/is one hell of a player....
