Tired of drunk bandmembers
Anybody else that are tired of members hwo constantly gets drunk during a gig? I mean what is it all about? A big f*cking party, or serious playing? I'm fed up with it... We had a gig yesterday and theonly one sorber was me... I've spent to much time on the music just to let it all go to waste because the other members got totaly wasted

Man, that is a constant problem. The worst had to be an 11 piece band with a Jagermeister endorsement. Nothing like having 2 or 3 bottles of Jager delivered to each gig for the band. And nearly a dozen drunks staggering around on stage.
I feel for you. Check around, there must be other musicians who take it seriously.

Then you should try doing a promotion run to promote Absolut Vodka, and a new, improved 11% alcohol Carlsberg beer..Bad Kitty wrote:That's just begging for a trainwreck!VelvetGeorge wrote:an 11 piece band with a Jagermeister endorsement. VG![]()

Alcohol increases aggressiveness. The world is increasingly aggressive, because it is increasingly american. No amount of bitching will change this phenomenon. This is how i see it and That's why i look for smokers or straightedgers to play with. It's hard to find either who also know how to play, i agree, maybe beacuse it's harder to play in these states of consciousness, for different reasons. This is my experience at least. The harder-core drugs are the bigger problem in my area. Why can't people just stick with the humble cannabis ?

Yeah, my bassist is a pot head, he doesn't see the effect it has on him. My drummer drinks constantly, between songs he drinks and drags. He doesn't get hammered, but he's always cramping up, always has to piss, always is tired and wore out. Everytime I throw a song out he counters with a slow one. We do an old standard (Some kinda wonderful, I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT!!!!) He plays most of it one handed so he can smoke and drink during the beginning of the song. Here's the real kicker!! He's got a great meter. So, we put up with it. After a couple more years I'll be looking for something else anyways. 12 years with these guys is ENOUGH!!!!

I think a few shots of something (Vodka , Jack, Beam etc) over the course of a rehearsal or gig is fine, so long as it doesnt affect the whole of things. I mean it is Rock and Roll ! Most of my bands over the years would drink in moderation during rehearsals, but at gigs, towards the last set or so, would get a little too "Tipsy". I agree with Awangotango in that alcohol (I love how Paul Stanley say's that) encourages aggression, but it can also erase stage fright and, if used in moderation, can increase rhythm and "Vibe". Hell look at the sessions for VH 2, Dave had a bottle of Jack, Eddie was slammin 22 oz. bottles of Schlitz Malt Liquer Bull. I agree with others that you gotta find people who only drink in moderation, or who can play tow up !

Tone from the cab is a natural high., especially when it bounces off the room surfaces in the right way
