yes thanx. you know the more I look at jackson and roccaforte, I think I like the slight variation that I ended up with best. very smooth, traditional tones. They are all very similar. good mod though

okay so the only diff is that he adds after the tone stack. Anyone know the sonic differences between here or there? Other than that it is the sames as rocca, caswell, allen, etc, etc, etc, slight variations. I guess he was the first? did arrendondo add tubes or just cascade non masters? all very interesting

hi,
no disrespect do dave pritchard but i grew up in l.a. during that era and got to see all of the cool early l.a.metal bands from that era and i have to say that dave's tone did not even compare to other guys like warren dimartini,carlos cavazos and greg leon and an obscure guy in a band named alacarte.the best tone i ever heard dave pritchard achieve was at oddfellows temple in pasadena and he was playing an ibanez rocket roll jr.through a fawn marshall 50 watt master volume with a tom scholz power soak and his pickup was i believe a dimarzio super distortion humbucker.however on the same bill that night was ratt and the sharks and both warren dimartini and the guitar player from the sharks had a better tone than dave pritchard.i always thought that saint never had a good enough producer who could capture their essence.they were indeed a good band and they definitely sounded very good.i once had a cassette tape of them playing in the sandoval brothers garage in el sereno and even that tape sounded great.they knew how to get great tones with the gear they possesed(which was all gibson,fender,charvel,marshall,ampeg and ludwig).dave was a typical musician from that era.dave and john bush deserved greater things.the rest of the guys in the band were too juvenile and snobbish but at the end of the 80's that was the norm among the musicians from that scene.the l.a scene got so cut throat and image conscious that it deserved to die a sudden death.if i've offended anybody i apologize but c'mon?dave pritchard? he was a great guitarist but there were real cats out there during that scene that just effen' ate all contenders.

Ill tell you anyways. I had some rehearsal space at this place called Francisco Studios in Vernon CA. It was by the slaughter housed in east L.A. so in the summer time, it was really stinky. I was walking through the hallways as I often did trying to listen for talent.

Good God man...you just brought back some unpleasant memories for me, circa 1990. For anyone that hasn't practiced at Francisco's, here's a way to "visualize" the smell of the Jimmy Dean slaughterhouses:

1) Nice, warm summer day.
2) Feed a dog a bag of Fritos.
3) Feed the same dog some epicac.

The end result will smell EXACTLY like the Jimmy Dean slaughterhouses. Ah...good times!

I was in Mystery, 21st Century and Surreal from 1986 to 1991 in and out of Franciscos all the time.

I know that there were better player's from that era than Dave( I actually prefered Sandovals playing to his on the first album). Gene Allen from Lizzy Borden was a very toneful MF for sure. I was more or less talking about some of his riffs(Pritchard that is) On the album "Raising fear" his sound really got good, and in the liner notes Lee Jackson was thanked. On that live album from that tour his sound was also very good, just like the album. Pritchard used stock 800 2210 marshalls from 84' until the "Raising Fear" album, which were Lee Jackson modded. Pics show a Metal faced SPL and a JMP SPL.
