Yeah I know. You're right, Mark. Still a little too much Dixie for me. And the Police were pretty disappointing (not that I was ever a big fan anyway.) More politics than usual, too. Nobody does real protest songs like the masters of '60's. I hate hearing artists political views in the music.rockstah wrote:cause u arent a mainstream type of listener or player. what were you expecting?NY Chief wrote:Sooo, another disappointing year to me. I think my musical tastes are starting to change...getting more and more into country pickers and singers. I thought Carrie Underwood was good doing the traditional country song and the Eagles tribute. She's got a great voice (very easy on the old peepers, too)
Country music...I understand it, now!!
Hey Mark, I thought of you today...they were saying on the radio that Starship is playing Philly (or somewhere close to NYC)...they're having a radio contest...winner gets front row seats.

The Dixie Chicks are OK and all, but obviously won because of their political stance IMNSHO.NY Chief wrote:Yeah I know. You're right, Mark. Still a little too much Dixie for me. Neil Young could make a fart record, and they would nominate his arse for a grammy over any politically incorrect person, even over someone on the musical level of Mozart.
And if he said, "Bush Sucks", in between each fart, then all bets are off. His arse would be a shoe in to win the entire night, in all the categories.

Even Hiliary Clinton won a grammy for her Audiobook version of "It take a Village" a few years back. I seriously doubt they've ever given one to a Conservative who had an Audio Book, or anyone musician who dared to not tow the Hollyweird leftist line.
These award shows are such a political farce, and make the award a less prestigious hollow victory, and I'm no right winger by any stretch of the imagination.
I think neither party should get these type of Awards. Keep it about the music, not the message, unless it's uplifting and non political, instead of self serving like this.

I thought the award was Always a joke.... Grammy, Emmy, Oscar, far more popularity based awards than skill/creativity based awards, How many times has the best of anything not even come close to winning, while popular shallow drivel runs away with the awards?and the award has become a fucking joke because of it.
Most awards shows are a poor/shallow excuse for one group or another to sit around, slap each other on the back and give each other awards.
Although I do occasionally enjoy some of the performances, the live ones anyway, whats left of them...
