What pickups do you recommend for an Epiphone Dot?

There's more to life than just amps?

What pickups do you recommend for an Epiphone Dot?

I told a friend I'd attempt to re-do the electronics in her Dot (yeah, I know -- pain in the ass), and was thinking while getting in there, a pickup upgrade might be worthwhile. I've never really shopped for pickups for a semi-hollow, so I was curious what peoples' opinions were. Style is hard-rock/punk type stuff.

I don't think the semi hollow really part matters all that much. You just need a choose a humbucker that does what you want it too.

like PAF style or more of a modern pickup. Of course I would expect a traditional PAF style to bring out the woodyness of a semi hollow more though.

I'd recommend a a5 magnet paf (or pat number or t top pup) with medium or slightly low output. perhaps assymetrical winding is a good idea - especially for the neck pup. this should give a defined and punchy sound!

I recommend highorder, lollar or skatterbranes. SD 59s should also work

for an easy method of changing pups in a 335, see the stewmac website.

+1 marT & Roe

I would like to add SD Antiquity's to the list as well.
Electronics should be fine.. if not, 500K CTS pots, .022 or .047 caps (to taste. maybe even paper film) Switchcraft or Authentic Gibson Replacement parts.

High orders! If you want to, Jeff will make them unpotted with PE wire, all you have to do is ask :) . I loved my R8, but highorders and a Dr. Vintage wiring kit has improved it even more.
